Participants were mostly from rural junior high schools of northern part of Bohol. John’s Basic Reading Inventory was individually administered to each student to collect the needed data for this study. The gathered data was used to conceptualize the proposed English for Specific Purposes modules for basic English course, particularly for the senior high school ABM students. Analysis on the data gathered was anchored on the different theories of reading comprehension The findings of the reading inventory administered to the grade 12 ABM students revealed that their oral and silent reading comprehension levelwas generally on frustration level. This shows that a big percentage of students were not able to analyze the passage correctly. Hence, the students need much assistance from the teacher in analyzing the selection.
