Abstract:
Oil price shows its strong volatility starting from new millennium. However, traditional oil price researches mainly focus on fundamental factors, while omitting the role market sentiments play in shifting oil price. In this paper, we point out the importance of including sentiments in oil price analysis. Most important, we introduce advanced machine learning methods to quantify market sentiment and lead to new direction in oil price research.
