Abstract: The article analyzes the necessity of supplementing the informative-cognitive approach to the mobiliza-tion of ecological consciousness by understanding nature. The question of determining the methodologi-cal potential of hermeneutics for understanding nature and development of environmental hermeneutics as a special field of research is considered.
